Hyphenation Option in MS Word

Hyphenation is breaking long words at the end of lines and distributing them more evenly across lines. This means no more awkward gaps or spaces that make your text look like it’s doing the cha-cha.

Step 1: Open Microsoft Word

Step 2: Select Your Text

Step 3: Access the Page Layout Tab

Step 4: Find the Hyphenation Option

Step 5: Choose Your Hyphenation Settings

Now, the fun part – click on “Hyphenation” and a dropdown menu will appear. You have a few options to choose from:

  • Automatic: Let Word do the heavy lifting. It’ll hyphenate your text where it sees fit.
  • Manual: You get to choose where to hyphenate. Word will suggest places, but you have the final say.
  • None: If you’re feeling rebellious, you can turn off hyphenation altogether.

Save Your Polished Document

Don’t forget to save your document. Your text now looks like it’s been to the spa and had a relaxing makeover.
