Connect Your Domain and Hosting for WordPress with Hostinger

Once you’ve bought a domain name and selected a web hosting provider, the next crucial step is connecting the two so that your website is live on the internet. For WordPress users hosting their sites with Hostinger, the process is straightforward but requires a few important steps to ensure everything is set up properly.

Step 1: Log into Your Hostinger Account

Step 2: Get Your Hostinger Nameservers

To connect your domain to Hostinger, you’ll need the nameservers that Hostinger provides. Nameservers tell the domain registrar where to send traffic when someone types in your domain.

  1. In your Hostinger hPanel, look for the DNS Zone or Domains section.
  2. Click on DNS Settings or Nameservers.
  3. You’ll see the Hostinger nameservers, which should look something like this:
    • ns1.dns-parking.com
    • ns2.dns-parking.com

Write these nameservers down or keep them handy, as you’ll need to enter them at your domain registrar.

Step 3: Log into Your Domain Registrar

Now that you have your nameservers, it’s time to log in to the website where you purchased your domain (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.).

  1. Go to your domain registrar’s website and log into your account.
  2. Once logged in, navigate to the domain management or DNS settings page.
  3. In the domain management settings, look for an option to manage or update DNS or nameservers.
  4. Find the Nameserver settings section, and replace the current nameservers with the ones you got from Hostinger. Usually, you’ll need to:
    • Set custom nameservers.
    • Enter ns1.dns-parking.com and ns2.dns-parking.com (the nameservers Hostinger gave you).
  5. Save the changes.

Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation

DNS propagation is the time it takes for the changes you made to spread across the internet. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours for your domain to start pointing to your Hostinger hosting account, although it typically happens within a few hours.

During this time, your website might not be accessible to everyone, but don’t worry—this is completely normal.

Step 5: Install WordPress on Hostinger

Step 7: Verify Your Website
