Citations & Bibliography in MS Word

Step 1: Open Microsoft Word

Step 2: Place Your Cursor

Step 3: Access the “References” Tab

Step 4: Find the “Insert Citation” Option

Example: Let’s say you’re following the APA style. Click on “Insert Citation” and select “Add New Source.”

Step 5: Fill in the Source Information

Example: For your scholarly article, you’d fill in fields like Author, Title, Source Title, Year, etc.

Step 6: Insert Your Citation

Example: In your paper, you might see something like, “Virtual reality has been shown to enhance learning (Smith, 2020).”

 

Step 7: Manage Your Sources

As you continue to reference sources in your paper, you can add more citations following the same steps. Word will keep track of all your sources in the “Manage Sources” option, ensuring you don’t lose any references.

Step 8: Build Your Bibliography

Example: Your bibliography might include the entry for your scholarly article like this:

Smith, J. (2020). The Impact of Virtual Reality on Educational Outcomes. Journal of Educational Technology, 45(3), 312-329.

Save Your Document

Don’t forget to save your document, complete with its properly formatted citations and bibliography.
